I am a Graduate Research Assistant at the ARRC, pursuing a PhD degree in ECE. I obtained my MS degree in ECE also at the OU ARRC, with Dr. David Schvartzman. My thesis was about a fast adaptive digital beamforming leveraging deep learning algorithms for phased array radars. My research interest is mainly in adaptive beamforming to improve the quality and temporal resolution of phased array radar data. Outside of research, I enjoy activities with my two dogs, Bee and Cream.

I am a PhD student in meteorology and Graduate Research Assistant with the ARRC. I’m from Santa Catarina, in Southern Brazil where I got BS in meteorology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. I also got my MS degree from the Federal University of Santa Maria, in Rio Grande do Sul also in Brazil. My previous research has revolved around the observation of severe storms in Southern Brazil with dual-polarization Doppler radars. Currently, my research explores the start-of-the-art phased array radars of the ARRC to detect and study lightning in deep convection. On my free time, I like to do activities with my wife, as well as work out, play computer games, fish, and do volunteer work as a forecaster for southern Brazil.
Jonah Pehl
PhD Student in Meteorology
Advisor: David Schvartzman
Hello! My name is Jonah and I am Ph.D. student working on polarimetric calibration of the all-digital phased array weather radar, Horus, developed by NSSL and the ARRC at OU. Previously, I received my bachelor's degree in meteorology from the University of Northern Colorado and my master's degree in meteorology from OU. For my master's, I used dual-polarization radar within a bulk statistical framework to study increased aerosol concentration effects on deep convection near Houston, TX. My research interests include radar meteorology, radar engineering, and weather forecasting while my hobbies include working out, playing Rocket League, storm chasing, and running.

David Schvartzman
I am a graduate student, pursuing a Ph.D. at the ARRC. I am a UWC alumnus and completed my IB-DP at UWC Mostar in 2017. I got my Bachelors and Master's degree in ECE at OU in 2022 and 2023, respectively. My thesis focused on UAS based antenna radiation pattern characterization for phase array antennas. I am currently researching UAS based phased array radar characterization and calibration with Dr. Bob Palmer and Dr. David Schvartzman. I like running, shooting and video games. I have an ungrateful cat, named after Josip Broz Tito.
Sergio Rodriguez
MS Student in Meteorology
PhD Student in ECE
Advisors: David Schvartzman
and Caleb Fulton
Sergio is a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering, currently in his second semester. His research is focused on the mitigation of cross-polar radiation in polarimetric phased array radars, for meteorological observations.
Emma Miller
MS Student in Meteorology
Advisor: David Schvartzman
I am a master’s student with the School of Meteorology, working as a Graduate Research Assistant with the ARRC. I’m originally from southeastern Indiana and attended Purdue University for my Bachelor of Science degrees in both Atmospheric Science and Planetary Sciences. My thesis topic focuses on wildland fires and their detection and classification using S-band radars across the country. In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, and playing a variety of sports.
Reece Reinke
